This is our story
We honour the spirit of a once much-loved local toy shop
The Rocking Horse Toy Shop started life by a mother and daughter duo as a tiny stall in a farmers market selling hand-made children's name plaques, then evolved into the lovely little toy shop in the Lake District which some of our loyal customers have visited while on holiday.
On our short break to the lakes with our cat as a family, we came across this beautiful and unique shop.
Not long before this holiday, a devastating time fell upon us. It is a common experience that happens to many of us, but not many people in society talk about this side of the baby and parenthood… Miscarriages are often dark and trying times.
In our darkest hours, my husband and I saw this opportunity to continue a legacy that brings joy and delight to many families. We also thought this would help us heal and move forward. The potential was there and what this shop stood for deserves attention from the whole nation.
Therefore, we decided to take on the toy shop.
Sadly, the physical shop has to be closed due to many reasons. However, we are determined to turn this beloved local shop into a nationwide community for parents and grand-parents to find good quality products that are sourced sustainably where possible, and to give families a choice of not-on-the-high-street gems.
Many of us are tired of less eco-friendly, harmful plastic, acrylic toys, and technological toys which lack human touch in the market. We want something original, that promotes creativity, cognitive, and imagination development.
The reason we fell in love with the shop in the first place is that we were looking for something unusual and traditional as a gift for our god-daughter.
We wanted to showcase the lovely products to the whole country via our online platform. After some hard work, we revitalized the online interface to welcome our new chapter of the business.
We want our toys to be the heart and soul of your little one’s playroom and nursery, which can unite and bond the family and integrate creative and imaginative play possibilities.
And today, I am ready to use this platform to raise awareness not only for the environment but also for the unspoken side of the pregnancy and baby business. I may not be lucky enough yet to have a baby of my own, but I want to celebrate those who are, and to support those like me through this beautiful shop and community.
I invite you to join us, our community, to help raise awareness for sustainable, eco-friendly, and safer toys, for quality playing, learning, and bonding possibilities, as well as to help support the unfortunate mommies and daddies who suffer losses of their little ones.

Great fun!
Got this for my 9 month old daughter. She really enjoys pushing the blocks. She plays with the hammer separately too and the colours are gorgeous. My older son has also had fun playing with it and teaching his little sister how to use it. Great buy!
