Privacy notice

Last updated: 23 September 2026.

The Rocking Horse Toy Shop Ltd (company number 11874357) is responsible for personal information collected through therockinghorsetoyshop.co.uk. We are registered in England and Wales. Our registered office is 11 Barley Close, Thorpe Willoughby, Selby, YO8 9UA. This is not a shop or returns address. For privacy questions or requests, email hello@therockinghorsetoyshop.co.uk.

What we collect and why

When you order, contact us, use an account, leave a review or sign up for updates, we may collect your name, contact and delivery details, order history, messages, account details, preferences and any information you choose to give us. Our payment providers handle payment information; we receive transaction details needed to manage the order, but do not need your full card number. We also collect technical and usage information such as IP address, device and browser details, pages viewed and cookie choices when you use the site.

  • Orders and customer service: to take payment, fulfil and deliver orders, send service messages, handle returns and answer queries. We use this information to perform our contract with you or take steps you request before purchase.
  • Legal and accounting records: to meet tax, accounting and other legal requirements.
  • Security and improvement: to protect the shop against misuse or fraud, operate the website and understand how it is used. We rely on legitimate interests where appropriate, while considering your rights.
  • Marketing: to send promotional messages where you have agreed to receive them or where another lawful permission applies. You can unsubscribe using the link in a message or email us. Order and delivery updates are service messages, not marketing.

Who receives information

We share only the information needed with Shopify and its service providers to run the store; payment processors; delivery companies and suppliers fulfilling your order (including MJ Mark or Little Bird Told Me where relevant); email, customer service, review and technical providers; and professional advisers or authorities where required. We may use analytics and advertising services, including Google, subject to your cookie choices and applicable settings. We do not sell your customer contact list to others for their own marketing.

Cookies and international processing

Essential cookies support shopping and checkout. Optional analytics or advertising technologies may be used according to the choices available in our cookie banner and settings. See our cookies information for further detail. Some providers may process information outside the UK. Where UK law requires it, we rely on an applicable adequacy decision or appropriate transfer safeguards. Contact us if you would like more information about a particular provider or transfer.

How long we keep information

We keep information only for as long as needed for the purposes above. Order and accounting records may need to be retained for the applicable legal period, usually at least six years. Other enquiries, account and marketing records are reviewed and deleted or anonymised when no longer needed, subject to legal requirements and your requests.

Your choices and rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may ask to access or correct your information, request deletion or restriction, object to some uses, receive portable information, or withdraw consent where we rely on it. These rights are not absolute; we will explain any lawful reason for retaining information. Email hello@therockinghorsetoyshop.co.uk to make a request. We may need to confirm your identity before disclosing information. You may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office if you have a concern, although we welcome the chance to address it first.

We may update this notice when our services or legal obligations change. The current version will appear on this page.
